TITLE XVII. Compromise.
Section 966.
- A contract of compromise is a contract whereby the parties agree to settle a dispute between them by mutual concessions.

- A [contract of] compromise <
referring to property the sale of which is subject to the execution of an official document> is void unless made in writing <before the proper official>.

- The effect of the compromise is to extinguish the claims abandoned by each party and to secure to each party the rights which are declared to belong to him.

- The parties to a compromise are liable for defects or for eviction as provided in the Title concerning sale.

Section 970.
- Cancellation of a compromise on the ground of mistake is limited to the following cases :
- (1) Mistake as to the identity of one of the parties to the compromise.
- (2) Compromise based on forged or invalid documents.

Section 971.
- A compromise based on forged or invalid documents cannot be cancelled by the Court if, at the time of the compromise, all the parties knew that such documents were forged or invalid.
