มาตรา 568

• ถ้าทรัพย์สินซึ่งให้เช่าสูญหายไปแต่เพียงบางส่วน และมิได้เปนเพราะความผิดของผู้เช่า ท่านว่าผู้เช่าจะเรียกให้ลดค่าเช่าลงตามส่วนที่สูญหายก็ได้
• ในกรณีเช่นนั้น ถ้าผู้เช่าไม่สามารถใช้สอยทรัพย์ส่วนที่ยังคงเหลืออยู่นั้นสำเร็จประโยชน์ได้ดั่งที่ได้มุ่งหมายเข้าทำสัญญาเช่าไซร้ ท่านว่าผู้เช่าจะบอกเลิกสัญญาเสียก็ได้

• [I] If part only of the property hired is lost without the fault of the hirer, he may claim that the rent be reduced in proportion to the part lost.
• [II] If in such case the hirer cannot with the remaining part accomplish the purpose for which he entered into the contract of hire, he may determine it.
