มาตรา 914

• บุคคลผู้สั่งจ่ายฤๅสลักหลังตั๋วแลกเงินย่อมเปนอันสัญญาว่า เมื่อตั๋วนั้นได้นำยื่นโดยชอบแล้วจะมีผู้รับรองและใช้เงินตามเนื้อความแห่งตั๋ว ถ้าและตั๋วแลกเงินนั้นเขาไม่เชื่อถือ โดยไม่ยอมรับรองก็ดี ฤๅไม่ยอมจ่ายเงินก็ดี ผู้สั่งจ่ายรับสัญญาว่าจะใช้เงินแก่ผู้ทรง ฤๅแก่ผู้สลักหลังคนใด ๆ ซึ่งต้องถูกบังคับให้ใช้เงินไปตามตั๋วนั้น ถ้าหากว่าได้ทำถูกต้องตามวิธีการในข้อไม่รับรองฤๅไม่จ่ายเงินนั้นแล้ว

• Any person who draws or indorses a bill of exchange engages that on due presentment it shall be accepted and paid according to its tenor and that, if it be dishonoured by non-acceptance or non-payment, he will pay it to the holder or to any indorser who has been compelled to pay it, provided that the requisite proceedings on non-acceptance or non payment have been duly taken.
