มาตรา 976

• ถ้าผู้ทรงตั๋วแลกเงินสำรับหนึ่งสลักหลังคู่ฉีกสองฉบับฤๅกว่านั้น ให้แก่บุคคลต่างคนกัน ท่านว่าผู้ทรงย่อมต้องรับผิดตามคู่ฉีกเช่นว่านั้นทุก ๆ ฉบับ และผู้สลักหลังภายหลังผู้ทรงทุก ๆ คนก็ต้องรับผิดตามคู่ฉีกอันตนเองได้สลักหลังลงไปนั้น เสมือนดังว่าคู่ฉีกที่ว่านั้นแยกเปนตั๋วเงินต่างฉบับกัน

• Where the holder of a set indorses two or more duplicates to different persons, he is liable on every such duplicate, and [e]very indorser subsequent to him is liable on the duplicate he has himself indorsed as if the said duplicates were separate bills.
