มาตรา 640

• อันว่ายืมใช้คงรูปนั้น คือสัญญาซึ่งบุคคลหนึ่ง เรียกว่าผู้ให้ยืม ให้บุคคลอีกคนหนึ่ง เรียกว่าผู้ยืม ใช้สอยทรัพย์สินสิ่งใดสิ่งหนึ่ง โดยเงื่อนไขว่า ผู้ยืมจะพึงคืนทรัพย์สินนั้นเมื่อได้ใช้สอยเสร็จแล้ว

• A loan for use is a contract whereby a person, called the lender, lets another person, called the borrower, have gratuitously the use of a property on the condition that the borrower shall return it after having made use thereof.
