มาตรา 293
- การปลดหนี้ให้แก่ลูกหนี้ร่วมกันคนหนึ่งนั้น ย่อมเป็นไปเพื่อประโยชน์แก่ลูกหนี้คนอื่นๆ เพียงเท่าส่วนของลูกหนี้ที่ได้ปลดให้ เว้นแต่จะได้ตกลงกันเป็นอย่างอื่น
Section 293. (Draft in English from Vol.79)
- A release of the obligation granted to one of the joint debtors avails for the benefit of the other debtors only in respect of the share of the debtor who has been released unless otherwise agreed.

The most plausible model for this section would be;
- Japanese Civil Code (1896/98), Art.437;
- A release of an obligation made to one of the joint debtors takes effect in favour of the other debtors only with regard to the said debtor's share in the obligation.
