มาตรา 251
- ผู้ทรงบุริมสิทธิย่อมทรงไว้ซึ่งสิทธิเหนือทรัพย์สินของลูกหนี้ในการที่จะได้รับชำระหนี้อันค้างชำระแก่ตน จากทรัพย์สินนั้นก่อนเจ้าหนี้อื่นๆ โดยนัยดังบัญญัติไว้ในประมวลกฎหมายนี้ หรือบทกฎหมายอื่น

- A holder of a preferential right has according to the provisions of this Code or other laws, a right as to the property of his debtor to receive therefrom performance of an obligation due to him in preference to other creditors.

The most plausible model for this section would be;
- Japanese Civil Code (1896/98), Art.303;
- A privileged creditor has the right of obtaining the performance of his obligation out of the property of the debtor in preference to other creditors, in accordance with the provisions of this Code and other laws.
