มาตรา 871
- ถ้าได้ทำสัญญาประกันภัยเป็นสองราย ฤๅกว่านั้นสืบเนื่องเปนลำดับกัน ท่านว่าผู้รับประกันภัยคนแรกจะต้องรับใช้ความวินาศภัยก่อน ถ้าและจำนวนเงินซึ่งผู้รับประกันภัยคนแรกได้ใช้นั้นยังไม่คุ้มจำนวนวินาศภัยไซร้ ผู้รับประกันภัยคนถัดไปก็ต้องรับใช้ส่วนที่ยังขาดอยู่นั้นต่อ ๆ กันไปจนกว่าจะคุ้มวินาศ

- If two or more contracts of insurance are made successively, the first insurer is first liable for the loss. If the amount paid by him is not sufficient to cover the loss, the next insurer is liable for the difference and so on, till the loss is covered.
