มาตรา 949
- ภายในบังคับแห่งบทบัญญัติมาตรา ๑๐๐๙ บุคคลผู้ใช้เงินในเวลาถึงกำหนดย่อมเปนอันหลุดพ้นจากความรับผิด เว้นแต่ตนจะได้ทำการฉ้อฉล ฤๅมีความประมาทเลินเล่ออย่างร้ายแรง อนึ่งบุคคลซึ่งกล่าวนี้จำต้องพิสูจน์ให้เห็นจริงว่าได้มีการสลักหลังติดต่อกันเรียบร้อยไม่ขาดสาย แต่ไม่จำต้องพิสูจน์ลายมือชื่อของเหล่าผู้สลักหลัง

- Subject to the provisions of Section 1009 a person who pays at maturity is discharged, unless there has been fraud or gross negligence on his part. He is bound to verify the regularity of the series of indorsements, but not the signatures of the indorsers.
