มาตรา 984
- ตราสารใดมีข้อความขาดตกบกพร่องไปจากที่?ได้ระบุบังคับไว้ในมาตราก่อนนี้ไซร้ ตราสารนั้นท่านว่าหาสมบูรณ์เปนตั๋วสัญญาใช้เงินไม่ เว้นแต่ในกรณีดังจะกล่าวต่อไปนี้ คือ
- ถ้าในตั๋วสัญญาใช้เงินฉบับใดมิได้ระบุเวลาใช้เงิน ท่านให้ถือว่าตั๋วฉบับนั้นพึงใช้เงินเมื่อได้เห็น
- ถ้ามิได้ระบุสถานที่ลงไว้โดยเฉภาะ ท่านให้ถือว่าสถานที่ออกตราสารนั้นเองเปนสถานที่ใช้เงิน ทั้งนี้คือที่อยู่ของผู้ออกตั๋ว
- ถ้าในตั๋วสัญญาใช้เงินมิได้ระบุสถานที่ออกตั๋ว ท่านให้ถือว่า ตั๋วนั้นได้ออก ณ ภูมิลำเนาของผู้ออกตั๋ว
- ถ้ามิได้ลงวันออกตั๋ว ท่านว่าผู้ทรงโดยชอบด้วยกฎหมายคนหนึ่งคนใดทำการโดยสุจริตจะจดวันลงตามที่ถูกต้องแท้จริงก็ได้

- [I] An instrument in which any of the requirements specified in the foregoing section is wanting, is invalid as a promissory note, except in the following cases:
- [II] A promissory note in which no time of payment is specified is deemed to be payable at sight.
- [III] In default of special mention, the place where the instrument is issued is deemed to be the place of payment, and at the same time the residence of the maker.
- [IV] A promissory note which does not specify its place of issue is deemed to have been made at the domicile of the maker.
- [V] If there is no date of issue, any lawful holder acting in good faith may insert the true date.
