Part I. Who may perform.
Section 223.
- The obligation must be performed by the debtor, but a third person also can perform it if its nature admits of such performance, provided that a person who has no interest in the performance cannot make performance against the will of the debtor.

Section 224.
- [I] A third person who has performed an obligation otherwise than as a gift to the debtor is entitled to compensation from the debtor according to the provisions of this Code concerning undue enrichment.
- [II] The debtor can set up against such third person any defences which he would have had against the original creditor.
