From Thai Codification Codes of 1925
- In the conventional view on the history of the "Codification" in the Kingdom of Siam, the current version of the "Book III on Specific Contracts" is characterized as the "New Text" while the old version of Book III promulgated in January 1925 belonged to the "Old Text", which should be based on the concepts developed by the French commissioners. However, the recent research clearly shows that the Book III of January 1925 had been already coordinated with the Book I and II of November 1925. In this sense, the Book III of January 1925 could be characterized as one of the "New Text". According to this actual understanding, the Book III of January 1929 was not any alternative to the Code of January 1925, but simply its revision. For the details, please refer to the "Introductory Notes" to the "Reconstruction of the Draft April 1924".
- In May 2026, two important documents were identified in Vol. 54 of the Archives of the History of Thai Codification; namely:
- A. Records of the Revision of Book III (from the version of January 1925 to the version of 1929). In the following pages for Sections, this document is cited under the title "Records of Revision in Vol.54" ;
- B. Original Table of the "References to the Sections of the Code" (so-called "Index"), which was obviously prepared by the French commissioners and submitted to the High Revising Committee in 1927. The so-called "Phraya Manava Rachasevi's Index" (published by Bangkok University in 1990 and later by the publisher Winyuchon in 2014) is probably based on its revised version. Through comparison between the original table and its revised version, we can easily recognize the fact that many entries were removed from the original version. In the following pages, this original version is cited under the title "Original Table in Vol.54", in which the removed parts are marked with highlighting in orange color. There are also phrases under possible doubt of accuracy question, which are marked with highlighting in green color. The original version is divided to two parts as follows:
